The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will gain custody of Aman Futures Group founder Manuel Amalilio within the day, according to NBI Director Nonnatus Rojas. Speaking to reporters at the Department of Justice (DOJ) after briefing Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, Rojas said 4 NBI agents have been sent to Kota Kinabalu at dawn on Thursday for the turnover of Amalilo who was nabbed by Malaysian immigration officers on Tuesday for carrying a fake Malaysian passport and ID.

SEC cease order against Pagadian-based 'double-your-money' outfit stays

The Securities and Exchange Commission dismissed reports it has issued a secondary license to a company behind the recently uncovered “double-your-money” scheme in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

 In a statement, the corporate regulator said the cease and desist order issued against Aman Futures Group Phils. Inc. will stay, denying reports the SEC has issued the firm a secondary license good for six months.

SEC uncovers pyramid scam in Pagadian City

The low-interest rate environment may be good for economic growth but it has also given the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) its latest headache.

The search for higher yields has apparently given rise to an alleged ponzi (pyramid) scheme in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur, Mindanao, worth at least P244 million and being run by Aman Futures Group Inc., whose trading activities were recently shut down by the SEC.

SEC uncovers P244-M double-your-money Scam

The SEC uncovered four “grave” violations of the Securities Regulation Code by Aman Futures in this case.

 non-registration of securities sold as investment contracts;
 non-registration as broker or dealer but acting as such;
 engaging in commodity futures contracts despite a prohibition by the SEC; and,
 engaging in activities that are “off tangent” with the company’s primary purpose as a general trading company.
